KAYDIUM

KAYDIUM

KAYDIUM is a new electronic duo blending raw analog rhythms with atmospheric guitar work and haunting vocals. Formed by Austin Lynn Austin (Mercylane) and Kevin “KJ” Johnson (Mamofish), KAYDIUM brings together two artists from different musical backgrounds, creating a sound that’s immersive, textured, and emotionally resonant.

Their debut single, “DeepGold,” a nearly seven-minute track that weaves dark grooves, post-punk tones, and a slow-burning intensity. It’s both a statement and an invitation into KAYDIUM’s stark, sonic world.

The collaboration began after a chance meeting at Brandon Black’s open mic at The Attic in Prescott, where Austin first saw KJ perform. “From the moment I saw KJ play, I started humming melodies,” Austin recalls. “It took me back to the early days of goth and the darker post-punk period. I find it quite natural to create within KJ’s electronic foundation.”

KJ’s setup features Elektron instruments including the Analog Rytm, Syntakt, Digitone, and Analog Heat processed through a custom rack of modular effects. Austin complements this with electric guitar, layered instrumentation, vocals, and lyrics, working primarily out of his BlackHook Studio in Prescott.

Their creative partnership first surfaced on Mercylane’s track “Dead Holiday,” which offered an early glimpse of their combined aesthetic and may be re-released under the KAYDIUM name. With DeepGold, the duo begins a new chapter one shaped by atmosphere, tension, and the interplay of analog and digital experimentation.
